Dynamic Road Risk

Collision likelihood changes throughout the day, across seasons, and with traffic volume, weather and light conditions. This product models how those factors combine to shift risk across the network, giving road safety professionals a time-sensitive picture of where and when collisions are most likely.

Stockton-on-Tees · Dynamic road risk by time of day and conditions

Explanation

Each road segment is coloured by its estimated collision risk per kilometer of road per hour, for the selected time and conditions. The scale runs from green (below-average risk) through amber to deep red at the highest end.

Risk is assessed using a combination of time of day, day type, month of year, weather conditions and traffic volume estimates. Together these capture how the likelihood of a collision on any given road changes hour by hour across the day and season.

This map is designed for use alongside the Spatial Risk Maps to give a complete picture of network risk. Combined with our Absolute Road Risk product, it can highlight the risk per road user for a given scenario.

Note: This map is a modelled representation of how risk is impacted by changing conditions. Interested in real-time risk monitoring? Contact us here.
